Kimberly Boone: "Somebody just broke in my house and my husband was shot."
911 Operator: "Your husband was shot?"
Kimberly Boone: "Yes he's laying here."

Kimberly Boone called 9-1-1 as her husband lay wounded on the floor.  She told the 911 operator that she didn't know who shot her husband, and she didn't see anybody.

But her husband had something to say and it was a shocker!  "I thought it was her. I thought she shot me," he said to the operator, referring to his wife.

Kimberly then said, "Rob, I did not shoot you, Sweetheart.  I was in with the boys."

It's the moment, police say, Kimberly Boone's plot to kill her husband Robert came undone.

Kimberly is now behind bars near Orlando, Florida, charged with attempted murder.  Cops say she woke her husband, claiming she heard an intruder.  When he went out to check, she followed him and shot him with his own gun.

INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent visited Kimberly in jail, and asked her pointblank, "Did you try to kill your husband?"
"No, I've never, ever hurt my husband," she answered.

"We looked for forced entry, where someone broke into the home...we don't see that, it looks staged," Lieutenant James Clark of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office tells INSIDE EDITION.

"When you listen to the 911 tape and you see the charges against you, it certainly seems like you shot your husband intentionally," Trent said to Kimberly, who answered, "I don't think it seems that way at all.

She now admits shooting her husband, but says it was an accident.

"Eventually she confesses and admits that she shot him.  She admits to being in the garage, being in possession of the firearm, shooting him," says Lt. Clark.

Trent asked Kimberly, "Why did you say to your husband, 'I did not shoot you,' when clearly you know you did.  Whether it was an accident or not, you knew you did, but you said to him, 'I didn't shoot you, Honey,' "

She consulted with her attorney before answering, "At this time we're not going to discuss that."

And, it turns out this wasn't the first time Robert Boone escaped death!  A home the family used to live in erupted in a spectacular fire last December.  Rob Boone was the only one home, and he had to be rescued from the flames.

They were a seemingly-happy couple with two young boys.  He runs a cleaning business.  She is a financial aid manager.  Police say the motive behind her alleged attempt on his life is for now, a mystery.

"It seems like either your husband is the unluckiest guy ever, or you're trying to kill him," Trent said to Kimberly.
"I'm not trying to kill him; like I said I've never, ever hurt him, I would never hurt him," she protested.

Kimberly Boone has pled not guilty.
