New Video Surfaces of PA Fitness Club Shooter

Airdate: 8/7/2009
Extraordinary images of a killer at a dating seminar have surfaced.  It's another chilling video of the shooter who went on a rampage in a Pennsylvania LA Fitness Center.  George Sodini listens intently as a controversial dating guru gives blunt advice on how to meet young women.

The tough love approach of R. Don Steele clearly struck a chord with the madman, who referred to him in another YouTube video shot in the basement of his home outside Pittsburgh.

Sodini shot a video tour of his home as homework for the 2008 seminar.  Steele's book, How To Date Young Women, was on Sodini's coffee table.  At the weekend-long dating seminar, the killer can be seen on video, laughing at jokes and taking part in an exercise on meeting women.

"People that attend these kind of seminars, they need structure, they need guidance.  He was desperate, very lonely, [and he] clearly had many, many years of issues with women, [and] issues with relationships in general," says Dr. Leslie Seppinni, a marriage and family therapist.

Sodini says he never was able to connect with women and blamed his killing spree on his loneliness.  During a mock interview with himself on a newly-discovered web site called Crazy George, he said, "Have you ever been in love?  Hell yea, lots of times, I am still single so obviously nothing ever worked out."

On another web site, there is an entry even more ominous.  The question, "Is it normal for me to date a young girl?"  The 48-year-old systems analyst is referring to girls as young as 16.

And new photos have surfaced of Sodini.  Forensic psychiatrists say all of the blogs and videos are part of Sodini's efforts to gain fame, even if it would only come after his death.

"He's doing this only because he has this fantasy that he will get recognized, and he'll get recognized on a grand scale, and the world will know who he is, and he'll stop being invisible," says forensic psychiatrist Barbara Ziv, MD.

In the end, he became known for a horrific crime, and as the families plan funerals for the three women he killed the community grieves and tries to come to grips with the tragedy.
