Sarah Palin's Publicity Blitz

Airdate: 11/16/2009
Sarah Palin kicked off her big return to the national spotlight with a visit to Oprah to promote her new book Going Rogue.

And she got right to it, lashing out at Levi Johnston, the father of her grandson, who posed nude for Playgirl magazine.

"I don't know if we call him Levi, I hear he goes by the name Ricky Hollywood now, so if that's the case, we don't want to mess up this gig he's got going as aspiring porn, some of the things he's been doing," she said.
"Oh, the Playgirl spread?" Oprah asked.
"Yeah I call that porn; a bit heartbreaking to see the road he's on right now."

She even accuses of Levi of being an absentee dad to son Trip. "He's quite busy with his media tours, and he hasn't seen the baby in a while," she told Oprah.

The interview also featured an intimate look at Palin at home in Alaska, working out and tending to her son Trig, who has Down syndrome.

"Have you thought about running for President of the United States in 2012?" Oprah asked.
"It's not on my radar screen right now, we're on the right road..." said Palin.
"Would you even tell me if you were thinking about it?"
"No, I wouldn't" she laughed.

Palin also appears on the cover of Newsweek magazine, along with the headline: "She's Bad News For The GOP—And For Everybody Else, Too."

The next stop on Palin's publicity blitz was a sit-down interview with Barbara Walters. Palin's daughters Piper and Willow were behind the scenes to support their mom, who opens up about the civil war she fought with John McCain's campaign staff during last year's presidential election.

"Why do you think these people were trying to destroy your reputation?" asked Walters.
"For some people this is a business, and if failure in this business was going to reflect poorly on them, they had to kind of pack their own parachutes to protect themselves and their reputations so they wouldn't be blamed," Palin said.

But Palin is now coming under fire for allegedly re-writing history. McCain's top strategists, who she goes after in her book, are now firing back, calling the book "fabricated" and "all fiction."

One former staffer provided e-mails to disprove parts of Palin's book, like her claim that she was eager to appear on Saturday Night Live where she was constantly poked fun at by Tina Fey.

Palin wrote in her book, " 'Let's do this,' I said. 'Let's go on and neutralize some of this, and have some fun!'

But the just-leaked e-mails show otherwise. Just before she went on SNL, she reportedly wrote: "Still not thrilled with the idea. These folks are whack… what's the upside in giving them [or] any celebrity venue a ratings boost?"

While Palin's book may be number one, according to new polls, she is not.  A new ABC News/Washington Post poll says her popularity score is a negative 9! In addition, 60 per cent say she is not qualified for the presidency and 53 per cent say they would definitely not vote for her in 2012.
