Michael Jackson's
This Is It
Premieres
Airdate: 10/28/2009
Four of Michael Jackson's big brothers came together on the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the eagerly awaited premiere of
This Is It
.
Jermaine Jackson said, "I feel proud to be here tonight because this is my brother's work and we support him 1,000 per cent."
Stars including Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, and Paula Abdul were on hand to see Michael come alive on the silver screen. Thousands of people got tickets to this world premiere event, but noticeably absent in the crowd were Michael Jackson's parents and children.
Jackie Jackson said the children will have a private screening very soon, but he said that his mother Katherine is still too distraught to see the movie. "It's too emotional for her. She is still mourning, she just can't see it right now," he said.
The movie was surrounded by controversy before it even opened, amidst claims that body doubles were used to stand in for Michael.
22-year-old Misha Gabriel was named as the double. But he says he only did "stunt" work for the 50-year-old Jackson, like when he burst through a window in a scene from
Smooth Criminal
.
Gabriel said, "I'd like to set the record straight. There were no body doubles used but for a few brief flashes of stunt work. As far as the dancing, no one can dance like Michael. I can't even come close."
INSIDE EDITION also got a sneak peek inside the exclusive after party, where the special guests celebrated the life of the King of Pop.
And what did Jermaine Jackson think after seeing his brother's final rehearsals? He told INSIDE EDITION, "It was wonderful. It was more than I expected…incredible."
This Is It
is only scheduled to run in theaters for the next two weeks.
