Oscar Preview

Airdate : 2/22/2008

The most famous red carpet in the world in under a tent today with predictions of an 80 percent chance of rain come Oscar® Sunday. The preparations are well underway here at the Kodak Theatre to keep the stars dry on Hollywood’s biggest night.

Everything from seven-foot Oscar® statues to the red carpet itself is covered in plastic. Tarps and tents are being erected everywhere, but water is still getting in. And Hollywood’s leading ladies are worried about getting drenched.

We caught up with supermodel Heidi Klum, who's going to the Oscars® for the first time.

"Galliano made this gorgeous red dress for me. I have not tried it on yet...I’m very excited about it."

Heidi was on hand in Hollywood showing off Victoria’s Secret lingerie that she helped to design...It was given to all the Best Actress nominees.

“You always have to think about what you're going to do when the party's over and you take the dress off. You still have to look good!"

Even the most glamorous actresses don't roll out of bed on Oscar® day looking this gorgeous...as our April Woodard learned, it takes a whole lot of work.

She tried on Oscar®- worthy gowns with celebrity designer Pamela Dennis.... she's already sent several gowns like the ones she shows April to Hollywood for red carpet consideration.

Avril Graham of Harper’s Bazaar tells INSIDE EDITION that, especially this year, designers are on pins and needles hoping actresses will chose their gowns.

“Because so many awards shows have been cancelled, this is the one that counts.”

No look is complete without stunning jewels like the ones April tried on at Graff in New York City.

And red carpet beauty must span from head to toe, so INSIDE EDITION also checked out the latest in stilettos from celebrity favorite, Stuart Weitzman.

“This year gladiator sandals are a beautiful way to show off a very sexy look.   The purpose of this leather is to pick up the reflection of the dress, so you can wear any color.”

The guys want to look sexy at the Oscars® too, so INSIDE EDITION’s Les Trent went to Brioni to test drive a couple red carpet looks.  He tries on a more traditional double breasted tux.

But for a hipper look...Les tried on a single breasted suit and a colored tie.

The parties leading up to Oscar® night include a luncheon hosted by Essence magazine in Beverly Hills.  Even Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were there. INSIDE EDITION caught up with Best Supporting Actress nominee Ruby Dee, who told us about the handsome date she's bringing to the Oscars®.

"This is one of my grandsons," Dee proudly tells INSIDE EDITION.

The 83-year-old was honored along with Jada Pinkett Smith.

“For them to feel like they can honor me on the same day as Ruby Dee, well I feel like I’ve been doing something,” says Pinkett Smith.
