David Letterman is about to go on vacation! A spokesman for the embattled talk show host confirmed to INSIDE EDITION that he's taking all of next week off.
People magazine says Letterman will spend his time off trying to salvage his marriage. He will be "24/7 focused on his wife and son."
Letterman's spokesman insists the vacation was planned in advance, long before the extortion case erupted. "We have a scheduled dark week next week," the spokesman said.
Letterman's wife Regina Lasko is reportedly devastated by the revelation that he had affairs with female staffers on his show, including his assistant Stephanie Birkitt.
People quotes a staffer on Letterman's show saying: "I am quite sure David loves Regina after all these years. But he was in love with Stephanie."
Tuesday night was business as usual as Letterman joked about the scandal after his audience gave him a standing ovation: "I deserve that like Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Prize."
Letterman's ratings jumped after he admitted having affairs with staffers, and attention on his ratings is now so intense, one online gambling site is offering bets on whether they'll stay high through the end of the year.
