President Trump Faces Backlash for Calling Omarosa 'That Dog'

Fallout continues from the former White House aide's multiple secret recordings.

President Trump is facing blowback for trashing Omarosa Manigault Newman as "that dog" on Twitter.

The New York Times called Trump's tweet from Tuesday morning "remarkably crude" and said it disparaged "a minority woman who once served at the highest levels in his White House."

The attack came as Manigault Newman released another tape from 2016 in which Trump campaign officials discussed how to deal with a supposed recording of the now-president using the N-word on "The Apprentice" years earlier. Manigault Newman secretly taped a conference call with Katrina Pierson and Lynne Patton, who says she raised the N-word issue with Trump.

“I said, 'Well, sir, can you think of anytime where this happened?' and he said, 'No,’” Patton says in the recording.

"Well, that is not true,” Manigault Newman can be heard saying.

"He goes, 'How do you think I should handle it?' and I told him exactly what you just said, Omarosa, which is well, it depends on what scenario you are talking about. And he said, 'Well, why don't you just go ahead and put it to bed,'” Patton said.

"No, he said it. He is embarrassed by it,” Pierson added.

On Monday evening, before the tape featuring the three women was released, Pierson was asked by Fox News' Ed Henry whether the conversation ever happened.

"No, Ed, that did not happen. It sounds like she's writing a script for a movie,” Pierson said.

On Tuesday, after the tape came out, Patton and Pierson released a joint statement: "No one ever denied the existence of conversations about a reported 'Apprentice' tape. Of course there were multiple discussions ... because Omarosa was obsessed with it. ... We clearly confirm the fact that President Trump himself denied ever using such derogatory language."

Manigault Newman told MSNBC whom she says Trump was talking about when he allegedly used the N-word on the set of “The Apprentice.” She claimed the comment was about “Apprentice” runner-up Kwame Jackson.

Jackson told Inside Edition in a statement: "Omarosa anything — hard pass ... I refuse to add fuel to that dumpster fire."

Manigault Newman’s tell-all memoir, “Unhinged,” hit bookstores today. It features another blockbuster claim that first lady Melania Trump is "counting every minute" until President Trump is out of office so she can divorce him.

The first lady ripped the allegation, saying she "rarely, if ever, interacted with Omarosa. It's disappointing ... that she is lashing out and retaliating in such a self-serving way, especially after all the opportunities given to her by the president."
