Expedition Grizzly

ORIGINAL AIRDATE: 4/27/2009

Casey Anderson and his best friend Brutus, the grizzly bear, will be featured in the National Geographic special, "Expedition Grizzly" on 5/3/09.

The now 7'8" tall Brutus was once a cuddly cub who fit in Anderson's palm.

According to this animal lover, Brutus is his best friend. "He's the only being who gives me unconditional love."

Best friend and best man! The mammoth grizzly even served as best man at Anderson's wedding.

Imagine getting a piggyback ride from an 800 pound grizzly bear!

Casey Anderson has raised a grizzly bear named Brutus from birth. Speaking with INSIDE EDITION, Anderson says, "I've raised Brutus ever since he was a little bit bigger than a Twinkie. He has this obvious bond, almost like this mother-son bond with me."

How close are man and bear? Anderson and Brutus have developed an extraordinary bond. Brutus even stepped in as the "best man" at Casey's wedding!

"Brutus is definitely my best friend. He's the only being who gives me unconditional love," says Anderson.

On his hind legs, Brutus stands 7'8" tall. He even shows off his brute strength by tossing aside a 1,800 pound bolder like a play toy.

The amazing footage, shot at Yellowstone National Park, is part of a National Geographic special called Expedition Grizzly, which is scheduled to air on Sunday, May 3.

Anderson says he's not worried about Brutus, but he is realistic about the dangers: "Brutus is a grizzly bear and I can't try to bring him into my human world. I have to go into his grizzly world and understand him on a grizzly bear level."

Anderson has created Montana Grizzly Encounters, a wildlife sanctuary. To learn more, visit www.grizzlyencounter.com.
