Attending a Coupon Party!

ORIGINAL AIRDATE: 3/6/2009

INSIDE EDITION joined coupon queen Darci Evans as she taught a group of consumers how to save big bucks.

Get more coupons by purchasing an extra copy of your Sunday paper, which is stuffed full of weekly cut-outs.

Evans says to hold on to those coupons till items go on sale. This will ensure you get the most for your money.

When you find a good deal, buy in bulk.

As times grow direr, a man in Seattle even took to the local interstate looking for his next job.

Forget about Tupperware parties and welcome to a coupon party!

Darci Evans is the coupon queen. She gets her groceries for half off and says the information she shares with those who attend her "parties" is life-changing!

Evans, who now teaches others how to get more bang for their coupon buck, is sharing some of her best tips with INSIDE EDITION.

• Buy extra Sunday newspapers
Buy extra copies of your Sunday newspaper to get more coupons. Also, be sure to visit your favorite stores' websites for even more clipping savers.

• Wait for a sale and don't use the coupons right away
Evans says to hold them and wait for the item to go on sale.

• Stockpile
When finding a good deal...stockpile products!

"Money is so tight for so many people right now," says Evans, "it's imperative that we teach people all across America how to save money."

Hope is in short supply these days as the American economy takes a nosedive. A mind-boggling 651,000 jobs were lost in February: 104,000 constructions jobs, 168,000 factory jobs, 40,000 retail jobs and 180,000 business service jobs.

One Seattle man took to literally begging for work, handing out his résumé on an interstate ramp.

The image is reminiscent of old footage from the Depression era.

Now, ordinary Americans are pulling together to get through the crisis. The group of women INSIDE EDITION joined at a coupon party are using Evans's tips to save some precious dollars. For Kaylene Smith, whose husband just lost his job, it's hope she sure needs right now.

Darci Evans's company name is BeCentsAble. To find a coupon party near you, visit www.becentsable.net.
