Former American Idol Carrie Underwood became the queen of country music on Sunday night, taking home the Entertainer of the Year award and Top Female Vocalist award at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Nicole Kidman was in attendance in a dazzling navy gown with a daring back and her hair in a soft updo.  She and husband Keith Urban were inseparable on the red carpet, and told INSIDE EDITION that their daughter Sunday Rose was turning nine months old the very next day.

Dancing with the Stars's Julianne Hough walked the red carpet with her boyfriend Chuck Wicks.  The singer, who is also her dance partner on the show, told INSIDE EDITION he picked out his girlfriend's sexy dress.

But the stunning dress later caused a wardrobe malfunction; it ripped when she walked on stage to accept her award for best new female vocalist.

Miley Cyrus walked the red carpet with dad Billy Rae, her hair in a girly updo and dazzling jewels on an off-the-shoulder gown.

Miley's friend Taylor Swift arrived in an elegant, bright red gown, and told INSIDE EDITION it was the first time she'd ever worn red for a red carpet event.  She later appeared onstage in a sparkly little dress during a performance with magician David Copperfield.
 
But where were Faith Hill and husband Tim McGraw on one of country's biggest nights?  The superstar couple was supposed to perform, and were even spotted at the rehearsals, but pulled out at the last minute due to a "major disagreement" with the show's producers.

The show went on without them, including a moving tribute to the troops.  The tribute was to help raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project, a program for injured servicemen and woman
