William Rice is showing the finger he lost in the battle over health care reform.
"He bit my pinky finger off!"
INSIDE EDITION has seen many angry moments at town hall meetings across the country during the bitter health care debate. But that is nothing compared to what happened to 65-year-old William Rice.
Half of his left pinky finger was bitten off after police say he got into a fight with a man at a Los Angeles rally for health care reform.
INSIDE EDITION's Paul Boyd asks Rice, "What happened after the first punch?"
"I followed that up with another punch and that one landed a part of my hand in his mouth and he bit my pinky finger off."
A photo shows Rice arguing with the biter, dressed in a black t-shirt, right before punches were thrown.
The finger was recovered, but doctors had bad news. They said that the bacteria level from a human bite would guarantee an unsuccessful attachment.
Police say they are looking for the biter to get his side of the story and he could face felony charges. Paul Boyd says "What are you left thinking after everything that you went through that day?"
"The world is a crazy place," says Rice.
The attacker fled the scene, but authorities did get a good description.
