Janine Lindemulder Speaks Out

ORIGINAL AIRDATE: 11/5/2009

Janine Lindemulder is fighting for joint custody of her daughter with Jesse James.

Jesse James and wife, Hollywood star Sandra Bullock, are seeking full custody of Sunny.
"Sandra, yes, you're a wonderful movie star, but you're not too damn cool to sit down and have a conversation in regards to this 5-year-old child," says Janine Lindemulder.

The mother locked in a bitter custody battle with Sandra Bullock says the actress has never responded to her attempts to talk about her daughter Sunny.

"Am I such a horrible person because of my tattoos and I was in porn that you can't even sit down for a cup of coffee and let's get on the same page? That's my gripe."

Bullock and her husband Jesse James say former porn star Janine Lindemulder is an unfit mother who may expose little Sunny to a world of drugs and violence. They're seeking full custody. Lindemulder, just released from prison after serving four months for tax evasion, admits to drug abuse in the past, but says she's now clean.

"When Sandra Bullock and Jesse James claim that you're a bad influence on your daughter, what do you say?" asks INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret.

"I've gotta look inward, and absolutely there's truth to that, I'm not this squeaky-clean June Cleaver," Lindemulder says.

Sunny was conceived during her stormy one-year marriage to Jesse James. "I was eight months pregnant, and I got the notice." She says she was told to move out of James's home. "He didn't want her to have his last name, said, 'Find her a new Daddy,' wanted no contact."

Lindemulder claims it was only after he married Bullock that her ex-husband wanted to play a role in Sunny's life. "If they're giving her good love and an extreme wonderful life, who am I to step in front of that? But, I am her mom and I've got something a little extra, you know, I can't buy her a lot of things, but we have the bond."

Tattoos cover her body. She met her new husband in a halfway house after her release from prison. He's also covered in tattoos.

"To be bluntly honest, when I get tattoos, I'm having a bad day," Lindemulder says.
"So each tattoo represents a bad day?"
"It represents a way to release."
"Do you think that you're a good mom?" asks Jim Moret.
"I am the best mom that I know how to be," she says.

Despite her troubled personal history, Lindemulder says she dreams of a very different future for Sunny.

"You're daughter's 5...13 years from now; she comes to you, and says, 'I want to go into porn,' " says Moret.
"I would absolutely, I would drop dead on the spot, absolutely not, I would go to whatever extreme to point her in a different direction," says Lindemulder.

Right now Janine is only allowed to see her daughter once a week. She is seeking joint custody.
