Teen Finds Heartfelt Letter From Late Mom Just Hours After She Died of Cancer

She said the letter is something to cherish.

An Indiana teen whose mother died of cancer this week was comforted when she realized her mom left behind a special letter for her.

Hannah Summers, 18, said her mother, Peggy Summers, was diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer in July 2016.

Peggy underwent a potentially life-threatening surgery this past June and wrote a letter to each of her four children and her husband in case she did not make it.

It wasn’t until hours after Peggy passed away on Tuesday, however, that Hannah and her family discovered the letters on her mother’s dresser behind a jewelry box.

"Hannah, if you are reading this then the surgery did not go well," the letter said. "Please don't be mad, bad things happen in life and we have to learn to deal with it no matter how much it hurts."

Her mother continued on in the letter giving her advice for the future, telling her to “study hard” and not to worry about a job.

”Enjoy life and live each day as if it is your last because none of us know if today will be the last. And most of all remember that I Love You more than you will ever know!"

Hannah said it was extremely special to have found the note from her mom. The 18-year-old said it was very much like her mom to write the notes.

“She told us that she would always be with us. She gave us advice. It was really hard to read,” Hannah said. “We all kind of read them by ourselves. I feel lucky to have it. There a lot of people who have lost their parents and wish for something like that."

Although Peggy typed the words of the letter, she made sure to sign the letter "mom" in her own handwriting.

Hannah has since taken to twitter to share the heartfelt note.
