Wookiee Officer: Chewbacca Stars as New Recruit in Police Department Training Video

Things didn't go according to plan for the 'Star Wars' fan favorite.

Ahead of next month's premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, one Texas police department is so amped for the latest film in the storied space franchise that they enlisted Chewbacca for a new rookie training video.

The Fort Worth Police Department posted a two-minute clip Wednesday of everyone’s favorite Wookiee starring as a rookie cop.

The video starts with a typical police roll call and distribution of assignments until an officer named Jimmy gets partnered with “the Wookiee.”

“I’m sorry. Did you say the rookie?”

Once the commanding officer clarified that it was the “the Wookiee,” the camera cuts to a shot of Chewy sitting next to Jimmy.

What was supposed to be a normal day of police activities turned into a disaster and a learning curve the size of the galaxy.

In a routine traffic stop, Chewy emerged from the cruiser to explain to an elderly driver what she did wrong, but since he can only communicate in roaring moans, he got frustrated and shook her car, leaving Jimmy to deescalate the situation.

Later, Jimmy takes his new partner to the shooting range where they fire off their guns. Jimmy nails a bull's eye while Chewy pulls out his blaster, reducing the target to dust.

For Chewy, his first day on the force did not go right at all. During a fun wrestling match with another cop, he ripped the human’s arm off, clogged the showers with all of his hair and appeared crestfallen at the loss of his original partner, Han Solo.

As the video ends, the department did a Star Wars-inspired scroll saying: “Attention Wookies!” Then switching it to: “Attention Rookies! Welcome to the Fort Worth Police Department! Remember to always show courtesy and respect to our citizens and always provide professional service. And may the force be with you!”
