Student Apologizes For Mac and Cheese Meltdown: 'I'm Ashamed of Myself'

Luke Gatti was filmed during the altercation at the University of Connecticut.

A student who was filmed during a violent altercation over mac and cheese has apologized in a video message.

Luke Gatti, 19, shoved a cafeteria manager at the University of Connecticut when he was refused service because he was drunk.

The confrontation with the cafeteria manager quickly escalated. Video of the incident went viral and Gatti was arrested. 

In a new video posted on YouTube on Sunday, he said: "I am ashamed. I am really ashamed of myself."

"I got to start by apologizing to all the staff involved in my incident especially the manager, who was really just - he was doing his job," he added.

Gatti is facing charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass. He was told to pack up and leave campus but he hasn't been expelled -- yet.

In his YouTube video, he added: "I've got some problems I am addressing. This was seriously a wake-up call."
