The bizarre incident occured around 6 p.m. Monday evening in the Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan.

Surveillance footage appears to show the suspect following a 27-year-old woman when, out of nowhere, he grabs her waist from behind, pulled a bag of feces out of his own pants, and shoves the same bag down the woman's shorts.

The man also grabbed her buttocks before fleeing the scene, according to a press statement.

"She couldn't speak," a witness said in an interview with the New York Daily News. "She was shaking. She couldn't even call 911. She tried twice."

According to the NYPD, it is uncertain whether the poop originated from an animal or human.

The woman then took shelter in a nearby parking garage, where her mother and boyfriend met her with a fresh change of clothes, the New York Daily News reported.

Cops described the suspect as a 40-year-old black male, who is approximately six feet tall and weighs 200 pounds.

The woman, a Manhattan resident, also appeared to be a stranger to the suspect.

Authorities said the suspect is believed to have been a part of a similar incident earlier that day, CBS2 reported.
