3 Arrested - Including 13-Year-Old Boy - in Alleged Plot to Kill Baton Rouge Police With Stolen Guns
Three young men allegedly broke in to a Louisiana pawn shop and stole guns cops say they planned to use to harm police.
Three young males have been arrested in connection to an alleged plot to wipe out police officers in Louisiana.
Baton Rouge Police say they believe there was a substantial threat to their officers after the suspects allegedly broke into an area pawn shop Saturday and stole several guns.
Seventeen-year-old Antonio Thomas was apprehended on the scene and found in possession of one handgun and one airsoft BB gun, police said in a statement.
During questioning, Thomas allegedly told cops that he and three other suspects stole firearms and were going to get bullets to shoot police.
Thomas was booked into parish prison for simple burglary and theft of a firearm, cops said.
On Sunday, police arrested Malik Bridgewater in connection with the crime. Bridgewater was charged with burglary and theft of a firearm. Police say they recovered three stolen handguns from the 20-year-old.
Finally, a third suspect — a 13-year-old boy — was arrested Monday and charged with simple burglary and theft of firearm.
Cops say the suspects were caught on surveillance footage using a ladder to break in to Cash America Pawn through the roof in the early morning hours Saturday.
On Monday, a raid was reportedly conducted at a Baton Rouge home in connection to the case. Police say they are looking for one additional potential suspect and ask that he or she turn themselves in, CBS News reports.They have not yet identified the possible suspect.
A fourth suspect allegedly connected to the crime, Trashone Coats, 23, was charged with illegal possession of a stolen firearm but not charged in connection to the robbery. Coats was released Tuesday.
The arrests came just days after the deaths of a five Dallas cops at the hands of sniper during protests over the questionable police shootings of two black men, including Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge.
