Gary Coleman and Shannon Price Were Divorced!

Reactions to the 911 call made before Gary Coleman passed away are pouring in. INSIDE EDITION has the latest news on the former child star's death.

It's a shocking new twist.  The woman who was with him and who authorized the hospital to take him off life support was not actually married to the actor!

Gary Coleman and Shannon Price secretly divorced in 2008!  But, it was she who made the decision to pull the plug on the troubled child star last week.

Price reportedly told doctors and emergency workers that she was Coleman's wife after he fell in his Utah home and suffered a massive brain hemorrhage.

He was taken off life support the next day at Price's instruction.  Despite their turbulent relationship, Coleman had given Price permission to make medical decisions on his behalf according to the hospital where Coleman died.

"Mr. Coleman had completed an advanced health care directive that granted Shannon Price permission to make medical decisions on his behalf if he was unable to do so," a hospital rep tells INSIDE EDITION.  "An advanced health care directive remains in effect regardless of a patient's marital status, unless modified by the patient."

Price and Coleman split just one year after they were married in a private ceremony.  The divorce papers were filed under John and Jane Doe.

Randy Kester is Coleman's lawyer, and he handled the couple's super secret divorce.

"Gary called me up one day and said, 'Hey, Shannon and I are not doing well, we've decided between ourselves that we don't want to be married anymore,' " Kester said.

Coleman and Price had an on-again off-again relationship even after the divorce and they were living together when he fell.

According to a police report, Price and Coleman were upstairs in the master bedroom watching television when Coleman went downstairs to make food for her. She says she heard a loud thump and when she went downstairs to investigate, she found him lying on the floor in a pool of blood with a huge gash in the back of his head.

Price is now coming under fire for what some say is her detached tone during the 911 call.

Price: "I am gagging. I've got blood on myself and I can't deal."

"It's one of the more bizarre emergency calls I've ever heard," Matt Lauer said on the Today Show.

"When you're a wife and your husband is laying there bleeding, you don't care if blood is over you," Sherri Shepherd said on The View.

"If I didn't know them, I would think that was highly unusual.  But knowing those two, it didn't surprise me a bit. They were just that way," said Kester.

Price: "I just can't be here with the blood. I'm sorry, I can't do it. I can't."
