Did you know that kissing can help you lose weight? So can eating with your non-dominant hand.
It's true. If you normally eat with your right hand, start eating with your left, says famed nutritionist Joy Bauer.
"You're probably going to feel totally uncoordinated, and you may look a little goofy, but it's going to help you slow down the pace of your eating. We know that when people eat slower, they eat less, and lose weight," said Bauer.
Chewing your food longer can also help. By simply putting down your fork and chewing each bite of food 30 times you will slow down your eating. The trick is to not pick up your fork again until you have chewed up every single morsel of food in your mouth.
Eat dinner on a salad plate. Studies show that eating on smaller plates helps you control the portion size of your meal. In other words, the less food in front of you, the less food you'll want to eat.
You can also control portions by eating between-meal snacks from a bowl.
"You don't want to be eating things straight from a large bag or a big container because when you have an open-ended amount, chances are you're going to overeat," said Bauer.
Got a case of the munchies? Try chewing sugarless gum.
Bauer explains, "Sugarless gum is like the ultimate weight loss weapon. It's less than five calories per stick, and when you pop it in your mouth you get a shot of flavor and of course when you're chewing you avoid mindless munching."
You can also fight cravings with, of all things, nail polish.
Bauer says, "When you have a fresh coat of paint on your nails, there's no way you're going to reach into the fridge or pantry for snacks."
Now back to that last, and most delicious, tip of all—the kiss.
Take a cue from Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara, or the kiss scene in From Here to Eternity. Passionately kiss your partner at least 10 times a day. A single passionate kiss can actually burn 6.4 calories a minute. That equals to a whopping 23,000 calories burned a year!
There you have it. Incorporate these simple tips and you're sure to lose weight.
