Cries of 'Help! Help!' Prompt 911 Call, Deputies Find Pesky Parrot
Pay no attention to that squawking behind the door.
Nervous UPS driver Lee Purdy heard what he thought was a woman screaming for her life. He called his wife to report there was a female yelling, "Help! Help!" inside a home in Clackamas County, Ore.
Or at least he thought it was a woman, he told his wife. He wasn't entirely sure.
She called 911 just in case there was someone in distress.
"It was clearly weighing on him, so she thought she better call," Brian Jensen, a spokesman for the county sheriff's office told CBS News.
Deputy Hayden Sanders arrived at the home, contacted the owner, and was able to check inside.
The screamer turned out to be Diego, a pet parrot.
No one needed assistance and the bird was in fine shape, Jensen said.
"We're thankful. It's super funny. We were ribbing [Sanders] a little bit. We're just glad that no one, including the bird, actually needed any help," Jensen said.
