When singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper's psoriasis first flared up, the pain was "unbearable."
During performances, Lauper, 65, tried to hide the distinctive red spots with makeup and clothing.
"My psoriasis spread and everything was inflamed," she said.

Now, Lauper has partnered with Novartis for the SEEMEtoknow campaign, which shares inspiring stories of people battling psoriasis to remind patients that they are not alone in their fight.
Her song “Hope” is about conquering the condition. “I think everybody needs hope,” said Lauper.
"We don’t need to hide and we don’t need to feel embarrassed. It took me a long time to get to where I am today, but I made it.”
