Daredevil With Half a Body Walks on Flaming Glass, Balances on Bowling Balls
This performer may only have half a body, but being a daredevil has no height requirement.
Aaron Wollin, who goes by the stage name Short E. Dangerously, is a 3-foot-2-inch tall acrobat from Daytona Beach, Fla., who performs with half a body.
“I couldn’t balance on two bowling balls with legs,” he told InsideEdition.com. “I couldn’t do the one-armed handstand that I do. Glass-walking is taken to another level when I’m doing it on my hands, especially when the glass is on fire.”
Short E., who abbreviates his name to Shorty, was just 2 years old when he had both of his legs amputated. He was diagnosed with sacral agenesis, a rare disorder that caused abnormal development in his lower spine as a fetus.
“If you’re going to be someone like me, you’ve got to have a skillset,” Shorty, 40, explained. “I’m not just an oddity, I’m a performer.”
After spending much of his adult life as a nightclub DJ, he started performing with World of Wonders, a traveling sideshow.
Shorty then started performing with rock and roll circus Hellzapoppin, and now travels with the troupe full-time, often appearing alongside motorcycle rallies, magic shows and rock bands.
“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to be a rock star,” he said. “I feel like a rock star when I’m on that stage. They’re screaming, they’re going crazy. It’s loud. It’s just like being at a rock concert. It’s awesome.”
Shorty is featured in the newest edition of the Ripley’s annual, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Shatter Your Senses!
