This Is Why Taraji P. Henson Is Sending Her Son To An Historically Black University

Is it the right choice?

Empire star Taraji P. Henson has created a social media firestorm by revealing that she believes her 20-year-old son was racially profiled.

She told Uptown Magazine that her handsome son was checking out the campus of USC in Los Angeles when cops "stopped him for having his hands in his pockets."

The incident was very upsetting, says Henson, who plays feisty "Cookie" on the hit show.

She said, "So guess where he's going? Howard University. I'm not paying $50K so I can't sleep at night wondering is this the night my son is getting racially profiled on campus."

But, some online commentators are criticizing Taraji's decision to enroll her only child, Marcel, at the historically black Howard University in Washington, D.C.

One said, "That's the dumbest thing I ever heard of a parent doing. He still has to live in the real world."

Another said, "Anyone find it ironic that the Black experience in America is still so bad that self-imposed segregation looks like a good idea?"

But, many fans are saying Henson is doing the right thing. One said, "It's what Cookie would do. It's what a black mother should do!"
