The Daily Show officially has a new host. Jon Stewart's replacement will be Trevor Noah, a 31-year-old comedian from South Africa.
Comedy Central made the announcement less than two months after Stewart announced he will be leaving the show to end his widely successful 16-year run as host of the polical satire hit. Stewart said in a statment, "I'm thrilled for the show and for Trevor. He's a tremendous comic talent that we've loved working with."
Bringing in a TV newcomer with a biracial, international perspective could put a whole new spin on the Comedy Central franchise. In an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, he joked about being introduced as a comedian from Africa. "They make it sound like a guy in leopard skin's going to come running on the stage."
With over 17 million views on YouTube and over two million Twitter followers, Trevor Noah is now set to take on late night comedy.
