Backstage Blow Up at The View

Whoopi Goldberg reportedly went into an obscenity-laced tirade against Michaele Salahi  backstage at The View after Salahi allegedly accused Goldberg of hitting her.  INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

Fireworks went off on live TV when alleged White House party crasher Michaele Salahi appeared on The View.

"No we didn't," said Salahi, referring to allegations of her and her husband crashing the White House state dinner.

Joy Behar responded, "So people are hallucinating when they see you?"

But the real catfight erupted backstage.  We're learning that there was an obscenity-laced argument between the Salahi's and Whoopi Goldberg.

It started when Goldberg strode out onto the set as Salahi and the other cast members of The Real Housewives of D.C. were promoting their show.

Goldberg walked onto the set and said, "Can we get back to the White House please?"

You could see Whoopi touching Salahi's back and pointing.

"I felt someone touch me," said Salahi.

Sherri Shepherd said, "That was Whoopi Goldberg, and she doesn't come out unless she's passionate about something."

But here's what you didn't see.  We now know that right after the show, Salahi broke down in tears and accused Whoopi of "grabbing" her arm.  That set Whoopi off.

According to the Salahis' lawyer, Whoopi let lose with "a long series of profanities, yelling the word '(expletive deleted)' or '(expletive deleted)ing' at her dozens of times in a loud voice."

The Salahi's attorney Lisa Bloom said, "People have to understand that Whoopi Goldberg is a huge celebrity.  She's also the host of The View.   And to have her burst into a room where Michaele was already crying and upset, and scream profanities, drop the f-bomb over and over and over again, screaming at her, was a very disturbing event for her."

The Salahi's also claim that when co-host Sherri Shepherd said, "You guys should be in jail," the producers flashed the applause sign to egg on the audience.

INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent was scheduled to interview Michaele Salahi after her appearance on The View, but she was a no-show.  Trent did speak with her co-stars.

"I'm thinking you don't like her," said Trent.

"I don't like her actions necessarily, but I really do care a lot for her as a person," said Lynda Erkiletian.

Today on The View, Goldberg addressed the controversy, acknowledging dropping the f-bomb.

"We have to start with this.  I went up to her, and I told her that she knew I didn't hit her and yeah, you know how I said it....choice words.  I make no apology for my choice words," said Goldberg.

She also showed another camera angle from Wednesday's show to prove that she never inappropriately grabbed Salahi.

Salahi spoke out about her showdown with Goldberg on the Today Show, saying, "I know her from the movie Sister Act and I don't expect sister to say 'f-you'.  I think I started crying because now I have someone that I don't even know, I'm a guest on their show, and they're berating me with  f-this."

But the fireworks weren't over.  A bitter fight ensued with her co-stars.

"They live a phony, fake, Bonnie and Clyde life," said Erkiletian.

But Salahi hit back, saying, "You're so angry and jealous."
