American Idol host Ryan Seacrest introduced Jennifer Lopez and rocker Steven Tyler as American Idol's two new judges.
"I'm so excited to work with all of you and watch you grow and take the journey we're all about to take together!" Lopez, clad in a sparkly silver jumpsuit, told the crowd.
The long-awaited news was announced via live webcast.
Lopez and Tyler will be replacing departing judges Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell.
"I believe in tough love but I don't think I will, as an artist myself, I don't think I could ever be cruel to another artist," Lopez told reporters.
