Mel Gibson Gets New Mug Shot While His Acting Wins Praise

On the same day Mel Gibson turned himself in to authorities as part of his plea deal, his acting wins praise from critics at the premiere of his latest film. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

It's Mel Gibson's new mug shot.

The troubled actor, looking grim and wearing a black crew-neck t-shirt, turned himself in to police last night as part of his sentence for that notorious attack on his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

The booking report, filled out when he was processed, lists his full name: Mel Colmcille Gibson. Height: 5' 10"; Weight: 190 pounds; Eyes: blue; Hair: brown.

Gibson was released on $20,000 bail. As part of his no contest plea to misdemeanor battery, he will serve three years probation and a year's worth of domestic violence counseling.

Just as Gibson was turning himself in, his new movie, The Beaver, was premiering at the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Jodie Foster, who directed the movie, walked the red carpet by herself.

The first reviews are in for the movie, and they're glowing for Gibson. The show biz bible Variety said: "Mel Gibson delivers a perfomance very few could pull off."

The Hollywood Reporter said: The Beaver survives its life/art parallels, thanks to its star, Mel Gibson."
