Pastor Cracks Up NASCAR Crowd With Unusual Prayer

NASCAR fans and drivers alike were laughing it up over a pastor thanking God for his smoking hot wife in the opening prayer. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

You've never heard a prayer like this one. It happened during the blessing at a NASCAR race in Nashville when Pastor Joe Nelms gave his version of a scene from the Will Ferrell movie Talladega Nights.

Nelms began his prayer with, "Thank you for the Dodges and Toyotas. Thank you for Sunoco racing fuel and Goodyear tires."

Then he continued with his take of the Talladega Nights scene: "Lord I want to thank you for my smoking hot wife tonight, Lisa. "

Drivers couldn't keep a straight face as Nelms continued with, "In Jesus name, boogity boogity boogity, amen."

INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent asked Nelms's wife, "What did you think about that prayer?"

"I thought it was perfectly funny. It fit his personality. That's just the way he is. That's the man that I married," said Lisa.

"Pastor Joe, I'm sure there are some people who would think that it's not very appropriate to say something like that."

"We have had some negative comments and I certainly understand where they're coming from. I would say, in a church atmosphere, that would never be a prayer that fits in. But we were not at church. We were at a NASCAR event with folks that weren't, probably, for the most part, going to attend church," said Pastor Joe.

Now, Will Ferrell's movie wife was played by actress Leslie Bibb. And she sure is smoking hot. But Pastor Nelms says so is his Lisa.
