Stalker of Madonna Escapes From Mental Hospital

Police have apprehended the man convicted of stalking Madonna after he escaped from a mental hospital days ago by simply walking out. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.

Caught! The notorious mental patient who wanted to kill Madonna and Halle Berry has been apprehended after escaping an asylum.

Robert Hoskins went to jail for ten years for storming Madonna's Hollywood Hills estate in 1996. Her private security team opened fire and he was hit twice, but survived.

Before his capture, a statement from the LAPD said Hoskins is: "highly psychotic when not taking his medication and has very violent tendencies."

Hoskins' escape came two days before Madonna's high-profile appearance at last week's Super Bowl in Indianapolis. It's not known whether he was trying to make his way to the Super Bowl.

Hoskins' obsession with the pop legend is so intense, he's said he wanted to marry her, and if she said no, then murder her by slitting her throat ear to ear.

When Madonna took the stand against Hoskins at his trial she tesitifed, "I feel incredibly disturbed that the man who repeatedly threatened my life is sitting across the room from me. I feel we are making his fantasies come true."

In court, security camera images of Hoskins scaling the stone wall at her estate were shown. He fell back and then made it over on his second try.

Hoskins served ten years for stalking Madonna, and was convicted of another crime and sent to the Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, California, for psychiatric treatment.

Halle Berry is said to be so freaked out about the escape she's on the hunt for a more secure home. She was photographed Thursday looking at a place that rents for $50,000 a month.
