Sanders' wife, Pilar was charged with misdemeanor assault and was tearful after her release.
"I have a very hard chance at [legally] beating a Hall of Fame, two-sport man, who everybody seems to love and adore," said Pilar.
She was banned for 60 days from their 10 bedroom mega-mansion in Dallas, Texas where they have been living separate lives since filing for divorce last December.
The former football and baseball legend says Pilar had attacked him in front of their three children.
He tweeted, "Pray for me and my kids now! They just witnessed their mother and a friend jump me in my room. She's going to jail n I'm pressing charges."
He even posted a photo of himself and their children filling out a police report.
And his 19-year-old daughter Deiondra, by a previous marriage, joined the feud Wednesday tweeting: "Put yo hands on my daddy again and see what I do!"
Tensions in their marriage were never far below the surface on their reality show Prime Time Love, which aired on the Oxygen network.
On an episode of the show Pilar asked Deion, "There is nothing wonderful about marriage?"
Deion said, "I get to claim you on my taxes."
That may have been funny then, but it is no laughing matter now.
Deion has also been charged with assault in connection with the incident. Both Deion and his wife claim they did nothing wrong.
