Jesse James is in rehab for sex addiction. Sandra Bullock's cheating husband checked himself into the Sierra Tucson Treatment Center in Arizona in a last ditch effort at saving his marriage.
"Jesse checked himself into a treatment facility to deal with personal issues," his rep said in a statement. "He realized that this time was crucial to help himself, help his family and help save his marriage."
Mike Fleeman, West Coast Editor of people.com said, "This was not as the result of some sort of ultimatum from Sandra Bullock. He did it on his own. He felt now was the time he's got to take care of this."
Jesse's move comes as Sandra struggles with what to do next. Her divorce dilemma is on the cover of People magazine for the second week in a row.
"She's holed up in a home. She's trying to figure out what to do next. She's wrestling with her emotions and she's finding that she doesn't have a lot of really great choices," said Fleeman.
Inside the rehab facility that specializes in treatment for drug, alcohol as well as sex addiction, there's a gourmet chef, a swimming pool, a huge fitness center and climbing wall. It looks like a luxurious resort where patients can horseback ride and go on a ropes course.
Dr. Charles Sophy is an addiction specialist who co-hosts Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew.
Dr. Sophy said, "For anybody, but especially for Jesse, sex addiction went to a point where it is out of control. You need to be in a setting that you are distracted and disconnected from the drivers of that behavior, from everyday life, to focus, to be able to get a handle on it."
Ironically, Sandra Bullock spent time at the Sierra Tucson Rehab Center while doing research for her role as an alcoholic in her movie 28 Days.
With Jesse James away, his alleged mistresses will play. Stripper Melissa Smith was soaking up some sun in the pool wearing an animal print bikini, and has said, "I have regrets."
And another alleged mistress is speaking out on camera for the first time. Model Brigitte Daguerre is apologizing for her involvement with Sandra Bullock's husband.
"I do apologize for my involvement and what happened, especially if there were any hurt feelings. I don't hold a grudge against Jesse at all, but considering all the stress and all that's happened, I don't think we'll be friends," said Daguerre.
