John Travolta put on a brave face for his first public appearance since the massage scandal allegations, which he has strongly denied.
He was in a black tie and tux at a gala event paying tribute to one of Hollywood's greatest actresses, Shirley MacLaine.
Travolta led the tributes during the AFI Lifetime Achievement Awards, honoring MacLaine, which will air June 24th at 9 on TV Land.
On the red carpet, INSIDE EDITION saw MacLaine posing with her good pal, Streep, but she was thrilled to see Travolta.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing John Travolta. Love him. I'm so glad he's coming," said MacLaine.
Tavolta's appearance was kept secret until the last minute. He skipped the red carpet, and there was no sign of his wife, Kelly Preston, in the audience.
MacLaine saved her biggest hugs for her little brother, Warren Beatty, who delivered a moving speech. He told the audience, "Tonight we are here to honor a person whom I have loved my whole life, my sister, Shirley MacLaine."
Katherine Heigl had a wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet when her zipper broke. She had a quick repair job before she continued posing.
The night belonged to Shirley MacLaine. She will never forget how John Travolta bravely stepped out to honor her, in the shadow of scandal.
