Newly single Katie Holmes looked sexy-in-the-city in clinging leather pants. She was on a dinner date with a friend at the trendy Lion restaurant in New York's Greenwich Village, surrounded by bodyguards. She ate in a private dining room, out of sight of other patrons.
Earlier in the day, she took six-year-old Suri to New York's Central Park Zoo where Suri fed the alpacas, even though she was a little scared of them at first.
Suri made faces at the paparazzi who were literally climbing the walls to get a look.
Carlos Greer of People magazine told INSIDE EDITION, "People got to see Katie as a single mom. Katie and Suri were at the zoo and Suri was having so much fun, she didn't want to leave and threw a little tantrum."
Holmes' mom, Kathleen, was with them on the outing, helping her settle into her new life in New York.
She also went shopping at ABC Carpet & Home store for high end Frette bedsheets, which can cost $3,000 a set.
Meanwhile, Tom Cruise reportedly wants to visit with Suri this weekend, but he has seen the swarms of photographers who follow Katie everywhere she goes and he's said to be determined not to turn his limited time with Suri into a media frenzy.
After more than a week of hostile headlines, Cruise may have had enough. He's threatening to sue the National Enquirer over a cover story claiming life with him was a "house of horrors."
His attorney sent a blistering three-page letter to the Enquirer calling the story "one cruel lie after another," and "false and vicious."
