Rosie O'Donnell Opens Up About Near Fatal Heart Attack

Rosie O’Donnell opens up about the heart attack that nearly killed her, and proves she’s back to herself by voicing her opinion on Honey Boo Boo. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

Rosie O'Donnell made her first public appearance since her heart attack two months ago.

"Because I am a woman they say you had a heart event or a heart incident. I had a full blown heart attack," she told INSIDE EDITION.

Luckily, O'Donnell took an aspirin right away when she realized what was happening. Dr.Oz says no doubt about it—It saved her life!

"She acted expeditiously or else I don't think she would be here at this event tonight," said Dr.Oz.

The event was an annual fundraiser for her "Rosie's Theater Kids" program. Eveyone wanted to know how she was doing.

"I changed the way I eat. No sugar, just a lot of veggies and fruit. If you would have told me this is the way I would be eating, I would have laughed in your face," she told INSIDE EDITION.

And get this, while she was recuperating, O'Donnell became a big fan of another TV star, Honey Boo Boo.

O'Donnell says she actually has genuine respect for the little girl.

"I just think she is very gregarious and very intelligent. If you're a mom and you watch what comes out of the kid's mouth, she's pretty smart," said O'Donnell.

And, while many people criticize Honey Boo Boo's "redneck" family, O'Donnell says otherwise.

"She is surrounded by so much love. She's a lucky kid," said O'Donnell.
