Ariel Winter, teen star of Modern Family, has been temporarily removed from her home after alleging her mother physically and emotionally abused her. Her mother has denied the allegations. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.
"Slapping," "hitting," "pushing," are just some of the shocking allegations in court documents that detail the ugly battle between Modern Family star Ariel Winter and her mother.
The 14-year-old actress, who plays brainy Alex Dunphy on TV's No. 1-rated sitcom, claims her mother subjected her to "on-going physical and emotional abuse" including "vile name-calling" and "personal insults" about her weight.
Another allegation claims that Ariel's mother tried to "deprive her of food" to keep her weight down.
Deputy Sheriffs were called to the Los Angeles home Ariel used to live with her mother, Chris when photographers showed up.
Ariel's character was featured prominently in Wednesday night's episode.
And Sofia Vergara pretended she couldn't hear questions about Ariel when photographers caught up with her.
"I can't hear you! I can't hear you! Who?" said Vergara.
Ariel's mother denies abusing her daughter, telling People.com, "It's all untrue, it's all untrue."
She was backed up by her 32-year-old son, Jimmy, who is Ariel's older brother.
Jimmy told INSIDE EDITION, "The allegations are not true."
Ariel's brother claims the family trouble reached a boiling point when she started dating an 18-year-old actor, Cameron Palatas, star of the Disney channel sitcom, Ant Farm.
Jimmy said, "This is stemming over a boy that is overage, dating my little sister that my family had no idea about until the end part of it."
People magazine Senior Writer Charlotte Triggs told INSIDE EDITION, "These are obviously really harsh charges against her, so her mother is speaking out to defend herself."
Ariel's mother claims the court papers accusing her of abuse were filed in retaliation after she tried to get Ariel to break-up with Cameron.
Ariel recently posted a photo of herself with Cameron on her Instagram page, but sources tell INSIDE EDITION, they are no longer dating.
Paul Petersen, an advocate for child actors, says he believes Ariel's claims of abuse.
Petersen told INSIDE EDITION, "When an actress comes to work short of sleep and ill-prepared and breaks into tears out of the blue, something's up."
A judge has placed Ariel under the temporary guardianship of her older sister, Shanelle. The two sisters are now living in a modest home in Studio City.
Ariel's mother has been reportedly ordered to stay 100 yards away from her.
