Mother Of Modern Family Star Denies Abuse Allegations

The mother of the Modern Family star who accused her of abuse is speaking out, saying the allegations are false. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.

The mother of Modern Family co-star Ariel Winter is speaking out, saying she never abused her daughter.

"The allegations are false," said the mother.

Winter's mother is under fire after she was accused of "slapping" "hitting" and "pushing" Ariel. A Los Angeles judge has ordered the 14-year-old actress removed from the house. Today her mom, Chris Workman, is fighting back, saying, "I would never abuse (Ariel) in any way and I have always tried my best to always protect her and do what is right for her."

She says Winter's claims of abuse is retaliation for her disapproval of her teen daughter's relationship with 18-year-old actor, Cameron Palatas, co-star of Disney channel's Ant Farm.

Workman said, "When I caught them engaging in behavior that I feel my daughter is too young mentally and physically to understand and fully grasp, I put a stop to it immediately. Being a teenager 'in love' I thought she would cry and sulk and eventually her broken heart would heal. I would have never dreamed that she would take it to this level."

Winter, who plays brainy Alex Dunphy on TV's No. 1-rated sit-com, is now in the temporary care of her older sister, Shanelle.

Winter's mom lashes out at her oldest daughter in the statement, saying Shanelle "has come out of the woodwork once it was announced that the kids on (Modern Family) got a big raise recently. She has only seen her little sister maybe 10 times in the last 14 years. They have no relationship and her motives are not out of love, but out of spite."

Winter comes from an acting family. Her sister, Shanelle was on Grey's Anatomy, and her brother, Jimmy played Pugsly in the movie The Addams Family.

Despite her own personal family drama, Winter is reportedly back at work on the set of Modern Family.
