Supermodel Kate Upton is said to be very upset that Victoria's Secret used an old photo of her for its new lingerie catalog.
The shot of Kate in a black bra graces the back of Victoria Secret's newest lingerie catalog. The photo was taken in 2011, a full year before Kate shot to fame on the cover of the 2012 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
A source close to Kate said, "She's not thrilled about it, and the reason is she's not contracted to work with Victoria's Secret."
Charlotte Cowles, senior editor of "The Cut" in New York Magazine, stated, "Now that Kate Upton has become so famous it makes sense that anybody who had a photo of her, even if it was a couple years old, would want to trot it out now. "
Kate has reportedly held a grudge against Victoria's Secret after one of the company's executives made some insulting remarks about her to The New York Times.
Sophia Neophitou, who books Victoria's Secret models for their catwalk show, told the paper that she would never book the busty 20-year-old model to walk their coveted runway.
"She is too obvious. She's like a footballer's wife, with the too-blonde hair and the kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy," Neophitou said.
Kate and Victoria's Secret are not commenting on the controversy.
