Miss Utah managed to steal the attention at the Miss USA pageant after she botched answering a question from a judge. INSIDE EDITION gave the embarrassed beauty queen the chance to redeem herself.
Miss Connecticut may have taken the Miss USA crown, but it's Miss Utah who's getting all the attention.
"I do kind of feel bad in some ways, because really the limelight should be on her. She is the deserving winner. I am so happy for her," she told INSIDE EDITION.
It's all because of the cringe-inducing moment during the live interview with the judges when Marissa Powell was asked about equal pay for men and women.
"I think we can relate this back to education and how we are continuing to try to strive..." she said.
She told INSIDE EDITION, "I can't even listen to it."
It's the answer that's gone 'round the world.
Powell said, "I had a couple days to let it all out. Now, I am just ready to laugh at myself and say, 'You know what? It happened, I can't believe it happened, but it did.'"
So what went wrong?
She said, "I am the first person to be answering questions. So, I look out, all the lights, all the people, my friends, my family, everyone is there to support, and I get the question and I didn't process. I did not process the question and I just started speaking."
The late night comics had a field day.
Jimmy Fallon joked, "I think she is absolutely right. Education does continue for us strive for better jobs, men, leadership. Thank you."
Powell said, "I don't even know what to say. That is embarrassing and hilarious."
Miss Utah jumped at the chance for a do-over. INSIDE EDITION asked her the same question about equal pay.
She said, "There should be equal pay for equal work. It is hard enough in society today to sustain yourself and your family, and that shouldn't change because you are a woman, to not be able to support yourself and your family."
