Serena Williams' Comments on Steubenville Rape Case Cause Uproar

In a recent interview, tennis star Serena Williams made shocking comments about the victim of the Steubenville rape case that stunned America. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

Tennis superstar Serena Williams, who just won the French Open, is in hot water for making insensitive comments about the Steubenville rape victim.

Serena put her foot in her mouth telling Rolling Stone, "She shouldn't have put herself in that position. I'm not blaming the girl, but if you're a 16-year-old and you're drunk like that, your parents should teach you: Don't take drinks from other people."

The backlash has been swift and furious.

One person commented, "We don't need women blaming the victim. Has Serena Williams lost her mind?"

And this, "By your words @serena williams, you ... Crushed victims everywhere."

Serena, who's in England preparing for Wimbledon, just released an apology.

She said, "I am currently reaching out to the girl's family to let her know that I am deeply sorry for what was written in the Rolling Stone article. What was written - what I supposedly said - is insensitive and hurtful, and i by no means would say or insinuate that she was at all to blame."
