Troubled actress Amanda Bynes is in a mental ward as she undergoes evaluation as a potential danger to herself or others. She can be held for up to 72 hours. Her worried parents were photographed on the steps of a psychiatric facility in Los Angeles after they visited her.
Walters played a clip of Bynes from 2008 when she talked about her dreams for the future. Our own Victoria Recaño was a guest host on the show.
Bynes said, “You have to keep your eyes on the prize. You just have to have goals in life. I want to have a long career, so partying and things like that are not the best way to achieve that.”
The star of Hairspray and one-time Maxim magazine cover girl allegedly set a fire in the driveway of a total stranger’s house in Thousand Oaks, California where her parents live. The scorch marks can still be seen. A witness saw Bynes with a can of gasoline. She had set her own pant leg on fire.
Bynes took her puppy, a Pomeranian, to a liquor store where the owner found her rinsing the dog off in a bathroom sink. He told INSIDE EDITION the dog smelled of gasoline. It's unknown if her dog was accidentally burned in the fire.
The psychiatric order to hold Bynes can be extended if doctors feel it’s warranted.
