On the Today show, Miley Cyrus spoke to Matt Lauer, "I heard when you turn 40 things start to go a little less sexual."
Lauer replied with, "Don't say that."
"Probably around 40, around that time, that's when I heard that people don't have sex anymore," said Miley.
Miley Cyrus's "no-sex-over-40 comment" sparked headlines everywhere.
Matt Lauer introduced himself on the Today show, "I'm Matt Lauer, and I'm too old to have sex,."
"Well, that's what I read in the paper today," replied the Today show's Savannah.
INSIDE EDITION caught up with people on the street.
One woman said, "I was horrified on all of our behalfs, everyone who is over 40 who still has a healthy libido."
"It's sad but true," conceded another man.
Is 20-year-old Miley really on to something?
According to the Journal of Sexual Medicine, people do experience a decrease in libido as they get older. Seventy-one percent of males in their 30s were sexually active at least once a month. And sixty-four percent for females. By their 40s, it was down to 61 percent for the guys and 56 percent for women.
Sherri Shepherd commented about Miley on The View, "When you get 40 and have four kids and you're trying to figure out how to get the doggone food on the table, I dont know if the first thing on your mind is 'Oh my gosh, what's the sexiest thing I'm going to do for my husband?'"
Psychiatrist Stephen Snyder told INSIDE EDITION, "Miley, when I was 20, I felt the exact same way as you, and I can guarantee it, if you have good sex in your 20s, 30s, and 40s, you're going to be fine."
On INSIDEEDITION.com, we asked, "What do you think of Miley Cyrus's comment that people over 40 don't have sex?'
Sixty-six percent said, "She's incredibly ignorant."
Zero percent said, "She's right on target."
And 34 percent said, "Who would listen to Miley anyway?"
So, listen up Miley.
"No, it's not true," said one woman.
"What would she know? She's like a little kid," said another.
