Actress Ruby Dee Passes Away at 91

INSIDE EDITION remembers actress and civil rights activist Ruby Dee, who passed away at 91 in her New York home.

Sad news to report today, legendary actress Ruby Dee has died at age 91.  

She is remembered for her roles in the classic screen version of A Raisin in the Sun opposite Sidney Poitier and Do the Right Thing. She also starred in The Stand.

Her rep said she died peacefully in her home in New Rochelle, New York. Along with her husband, the late Ossie Davis, the actress was also a force in the civil rights movement. She will be missed.

During her seven-decade career, Dee was nominated for eight Emmy awards, one Oscar, and she actually took home a Grammy award for a ‘Best Spoken Word Album.”
