Gary Oldman appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to apologize for comments he made in a Playboy magazine interview. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
There was a groveling apology from actor Gary Oldman over a shocking rant in a Playboy magazine interview as he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! He squirmed in his seat as he asked for forgiveness.
He said, “I’m 56 and I should know better! It was offensive, insensitive, pernicious, and ill-informed.”
In the Playboy interview, Oldman defended Mel Gibson's notorious anti-Semitic rants, saying, "Mel Gibson is in a town that's run by Jews and he said the wrong thing because he's actually bitten the hand that I guess has fed him."
The interview was laced with racist language and took offensive aim at everything from the Pope to the Golden Globes which he called "ridiculous."
Oldman is best known for his roles in The Dark Knight trilogy and Air Force One. His new movie, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, comes out next month.
He said on Kimmel, “I don't condone or excuse the words I used in any context. I just basically shouldn't have used them, but I did.”
Along with the on air apology, Oldman also sent a letter apologizing to the Anti-Defamation League, which that organization reportedly rejected.
