Rosie O'Donnell Returns Barefoot To 'The View'

INSIDE EDITION was backstage at The View for Day 1 of their new season, as Rosie O’Donnell returns as part of the new cast.

Whoopi Goldberg opened the show with, "Welcome to the newer View."

It's a new day at The View and INSIDE EDITION is backstage as the show re-launched with new co-hosts former White House advisor Nicolle Wallace and actress Rosie Perez. The two coming along with the return of Rosie O'Donnell.

"How does it feel this time around?" asked INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent of Rosie O'Donnell.

"It felt great, ya know, I was very, very nervous because we only had one day of rehearsal," she replied.

The traditional walk was gone. Instead as the show opened the women were already on set seated around a small table.

Noticeable were O'Donnell's bare feet. She says she opted not to wear shoes because of a bout of sciatica.

O'Donnell said on the show, "I'm trying to stretch my leg cause it hurts, so you're going to see toes. I had them pedicured yesterday."

After suffering a heart attack two years ago, Rosie O'Donnell had weight loss surgery and lost about 50 pounds. Goldberg was also looking slimmer.

Today, at least, it was a kinder and gentler View. That's a far cry from the famous on-air clashes between Elisabeth Hasselbeck and O'Donnell seven years ago.

"I won't be yelling at anyone, I promise you that much," said O'Donnell.

"How come?" asked Les.

"Because I'm 52, and I didn't like it when it happened the first time I walked off," replied O'Donnell.

Goldberg said, "I don't think there is going to be much fighting, arguing, or craziness. Because we are grown women. We're not kids."

Nicolle Wallace said to INSIDE EDITION, "I'm one of four kids and I'm the only one that is a Republican, so I think that I'll function here very much the same as I function in my own family."

Rosie Perez commented, "We can agree to disagree and that's alright."

Time will tell if this new View has the right stuff to put the show back on top.
