Glenn Beck broke down in tears as he revealed at a speaking engagement that he may go blind within a year.
"I know what my wife looks like. I know what my children look like...but I love to read."
The controversial Fox News personality says he has been diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called macular dystrophy, and doctors say it could cost him his eyesight.
Beck's voice quivered with emotion as he contemplated what life would be like if he goes blind.
The audience in Salt Lake City called out their support. One shouted, "I love you, Glenn!"
Beck responded, "I love you too. I thought to myself, in that time. I'm too darn lazy to learn Braille!"
Beck played the footage on his show.
Glenn: "I don't know what tomorrow brings. The doctors say, c'est la vie. And that is the way I feel about it."
An eye doctor told INSIDE EDITION, "Macular dystrophy is a genetic disease of the cornea and it causes cloudy vision because there are deposits of certain substances within the cornea itself therefore the patient experiences decreased vision or blurred vision."
Beck said, "I fought enough stuff in my life to know everything in the end always works out the way it's supposed to be. It will."
