Bruce Jenner Speaks Out On Crash Investigation

INSIDE EDITION is learning more about the car crash that involved Bruce Jenner where one woman was killed.

Bruce Jenner is speaking out about the horrific car crash in which a woman lost her life.

It was said in a police dispatch: “We now have seven patients including one D.O.A.”

Jenner is calling the four car smash-up "a devastating tragedy."

"My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones and to all involved or injured in this terrible accident," he said in a statement. "I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."

The former Olympian and patriarch of the Kardashian clan was seen moments after the crash walking around the wreckage. A white Lexus, which was was driven by 69-year-old Kim Howe, was still smoking.

The collision started when, for some unknown reason, a Prius heading down the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu suddenly slowed down. The white Lexus was right behind and plowed into the Prius. Then, Bruce Jenner, in a black Escalade, rear-ended the Lexus and pushed it into oncoming traffic. That's when a Hummer traveling in the opposite direction hit the Lexus head on, killing Kim Howe.

There was virtually no evidence left of the crash on Monday. Traffic was moving steady along the stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway, where speeds reach about 50 miles-per-hour. One could easily imagine what would happen if a car stops suddenly.

A photographer captured the very moment of impact. Jenner was driving along and the next second his SUV rammed into the back of the Lexus.

Now, the police are investigating whether Jenner was distracted while driving. They're looking at the cell phone records of all those involved to see if anyone was texting.

But Jenner’s publicist says "The evidence will show Bruce was not texting at the time of the accident."

Phillip Brooks of the L.A. County Sheriffs Department told INSIDE EDITION, "He passed the field sobriety test. He voluntarily submitted for a blood sample. The officers who did the test said it didn't appear that he was under the influence but we just checked to be sure."

There were two adults and three children in the Hummer. They were briefly hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Their mom could be seen standing on the side of the highway cradling her tiny newborn.

The dead woman, Kim Howe was a wealthy animal rights activist.

Jim Pascucci was a friend. He told INSIDE EDITION, "She was a very active lady. She loved life. It is just very sad, very tragic, very sudden, and she is going to be be missed."

There are questions about Jenner’s behavior at the scene. Was he shell-shocked? In a state of confusion? In video of the incident, other bystanders could be seen coming to the aid of the injured, while he just stood there.

INSIDE EDITION’s special correspondent Zoey Tur, America’s first transgender reporter, says the drugs Jenner might be taking as part of his reported transformation from male to female could have been a factor in the crash.

Tur told INSIDE EDITION, "I just saw somebody that was very detached and didn't show a lot of emotion and just closed down. Certain anti-depressants can do that. Frequently, trans people before they are diagnosed with gender dysphoria and before they are given hormone replacement therapy are given anti-depressants."

The day after the crash, Jenner was photographed in his Porsche on the same stretch of highway. He was doing 56 in a 50 mile-per-hour zone.
