George H.W. Bush Apologizes After Actress Accuses Him of Groping Her 4 Years Ago

Heather Lind claims she was touched from behind by the former president as his wife Barbara stood at his side.

President George H.W. Bush has issued an apology amid a disturbing allegation that he groping an actress.

Actress Heather Lind wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post that the former president “sexually assaulted me while I was posing” during a 2014 photo op during a private event in Houston for the AMC series Turn: Washington’s Spies, which stars Lind as Anna Strong.

“He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side," she said.

In an image from the alleged incident, Bush's left arm is out of sight behind Lind as he sits in his wheelchair.

“He told me a dirty joke. And then, all the while being photographed, touched me again,” the 34-year-old actress wrote. “Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say, 'Not again.'”

Following the post, the former president did not dispute the claim and issued an apology.

"President Bush would never under any circumstances intentionally cause anyone distress and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind,” a rep for the former president said in a statement.

Lind said she felt inclined to come forward after seeing a photo of President Obama warmly greeting Bush 41 at a benefit concert for hurricane victims Saturday night.
