A newlywed who was set to be best man at his brother's wedding on Saturday was killed in a car crash as he drove to the rehearsal dinner.
Eric Stein, 36, and his wife Ksenia - both pictured above - were driving to the event in California on Friday afternoon when their car was hit by a firetruck.
The couple was making a left turn towards the venue in Agoura Hills when a Los Angeles County Fire Department truck slammed into it, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The couple married just six months ago after dating for eight years, the page added.
California Highway Patrol officials said that the fire truck had its lights and sirens on as it responded to a nearby blaze.
The family told KABC that Stein didn't have a chance to react because the truck was traveling so fast.
"We don't have Eric with us and we never will," his mother Karen Kirn said.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department said in a statement: "The Los Angeles County Fire Department is deeply saddened by the tragic death of Eric Stein. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time."
The firetruck was being driven by a firefighter and was carrying 13 female inmates from Fire Camp 13 in Malibu, authorities said at the weekend.
It added that it cannot comment on the accident due to ongoing investigations.
