Josh Duggar has checked himself into rehab for addiction.
It comes after the 19 Kids & Counting star admitted he had cheated on his wife Anna. His name was reportedly among personal details released during the Ashley Madison hack.
The Duggar family issued a statement on their website: “We are so thankful for the outpouring of love, care and prayers for our family during this most difficult situation with Josh.
"As parents we are so deeply grieved by our son’s decisions and actions. His wrong choices have deeply hurt his precious wife and children and have negatively affected so many others. He has also brought great insult to the values and faith we hold dear.
“Yesterday Josh checked himself into a long-term treatment center. For him it will be a long journey toward wholeness and recovery. We pray that in this he comes to complete repentance and sincere change.”
There is also new insight into the Josh Duggar's marriage in the new issue of People magazine.
Anna and Josh's marriage was reportedly "arranged" between their deeply religious parents. The first time they kissed was on the altar at their wedding.
Josh and Anna, both 27, have four children together.
Since Josh's confession, a Georgia mom has reached out to Anna Duggar to implore her to stand up for herself. Jessica Kirkland’s open letter to Anna on Facebook has gone viral.
In the letter, Kirkland said: “We have to teach our daughters that they are not beholden to men like this. As for my girls, I’ll raise them to think they breathe fire.”
Jessica Kirkland is being hailed a hero today by parents of girls everywhere.
She said: “This is something I wanted to say, it came out in a fury. I have young daughters; you have to be the example to them of the person you want them to be.”
