Soon after, the Twitter-verse lit up. "Jokes about eating disorders are never funny," wrote one viewer.
Another complained, “Honestly can't believe @howiemandel made that kind of comment on live television. Many people suffer from bulimia & [it’s] not a joke.”
After a commercial break, Mandel addressed the issue. “I just want to take a second just to apologize. I made a comment earlier, it's live television, I wasn't thinking.

“I made light of bulimia, which is a very serious eating disorder and mental health issue. I deal with mental health all of the time. I did something stupid,” he said.
Many of Mandel's fans took to social media to say apology accepted. One person wrote,
“@howiemandel your apology on air was very prompt, respectful and sincere. We're all human.”
